Why Alaska?
Alaska is so far away from the 48 contiguous United States that some people question why they should bother to head to the great north for vacation, whether by RV or otherwise. Isn't it easier just to tour around one of the closer states?
The truth is that nowhere - in the United States or beyond our borders - can compare to Alaska. In this state, you'll find the same great American attitude, but because there are a number of very secluded areas, there is a wider and deeper sense of community. In Alaska, there is always someone willing to help you out.
But that's really an argument as to why to live there. Why should you vacation in Alaska? Here are the advantages to planning a northern excursion:
- Diversity of Activities: Alaska is a big state - and that's an understatement. With over 580,000 square miles to explore, I'll doubt you'll get bored. Although many of the main activities in Alaska are centered on nature, this is also a place deeply rooted in culture. It is one of the few places in the United States where the descendants of the ancient inhabitants still readily live, work, and celebrate their history.
- Wildlife: If you're an animal lover, traveling to Alaska gives you the opportunity to see amazing animals in their natural habitat. You can travel to the coast and see hundreds of bald eagles, book a cruise to go whale watching, or take guided tours on which you can see grizzly bears.
- Glaciers: There are few places in the entire world where you can explore beautiful areas covered in glaciers, but Alaska is one of them. You can even book a short cruise around Glacier Bay to see breath-taking up-close views of the ice.
Alaska is an area that can be enjoyed at any age. On top of that, travel through this state is fairly inexpensive, as a lot of the activities are connected to simply enjoying the natural scenery. When planning your next vacation, consider Alaska - it could be perfect for you and your family.
